I like number 2!
I'm curious to see what an oblique 'Authentic' would look like next to a normal 'Jobs'....
1 or 2 please!
1 or 2 - Purely for clarity. The epic face is a bit ugly and dated. Number 2. Nice though.
Agreed. 1 or 2 is quite nice.
#4
Definately the first one. 3&4 look a little to "standard italic font-ish," except for the "s" on #4 which is nice.
1 is nice because it has some character without being over-done.
To me, the typographic pedantry actually makes the logo feel _in_authentic. It's nice typography, but not right for the product.
I like #2 something about the non-italic font gives it more weight & "authenticity" (sorry couldn't resist)
Liking number 2
I like number 2. The Squiggle from the I on 3 and 4 looks kind of off somehow.
2.

Agree with the 1 or 2, 3 and 4 are harsh feeling.
#2 does seem the best.
Number 2. Looks better without the italics. Looks more like a display type when not italicized.
i'm in bed with #1.. 3/4 just aren't working for me with the sharp angles
Out of these, I prefer #2. But I do agree with thfool, I'd be curious about a combination.
It's pretty, but cheesy bogus ligature does not good typography make. It's definitely inauthentic.
I prefer 1
I would definitely take #2 out of those options. Easiest to read, clearest, most concise.
#2 - I don't like italics in logos. :-P
1 or 2 are rad : )
#2 is certainly the most readable and feels a bit more classy. Also prefer the META face to EPIC.
1 or 2. Clear and smooth. I don't really like the sharpness of the angles in the other ones. I love the italics in #2.
I like number 1.
I like #1 the best.
The use of the "ic" ligature works better when the typeface has some movement to it; in #2, the ligature looks like it's floating away from the rest of the letters.
I agree with everyone else that 3 & 4 are too sharp.
I vote for #2. Definitely clearer than rest.
#2 please
yeah, scratch my previous comment. I like #2
I think the 'ic' ligature looks a little forced and... inauthentic. Otherwise 4 has a lot of charm and flair, and works the best as a wordmark for the word itself. To my eye it works the best of all of them in the negative. I think you could play a little more with the letterforms of 'Jobs' to make a pleasing shape.
#3 Has a lot of character and the Italic nature gives it movement.
the the 'obs' of number 2 looks bigger for some reason. I'm diggin the 's' of 4 and the relaxed feel of it.
#2 seems the most readable, followed by #1.
I like #2.
don't really like any of them. they don't really read all that well and the line from the dot of the i to the c feels rather odd and faked. they also look like they get chunky as the logo gets smaller. food for thought... in the end, it's up to you.
Me likes #2
sorry, not sure I like the little 'ic' ligature either, to be honest... seems somewhat superfluous...
(if I had to choose though it would be #2)
another vote for #2, but the ligature isn't working for me.
Twooooooooooo!
2 is the easiest to read, but the weird i to the c thing still strikes me as quite odd.
1 - The italicize and smaller serifs give it a more subtle/soft feel. Love it.
#1 liked the legibility of the font
2 is my fav.
I like both 1 and 2 but I am leaning more toward 2.
I have to agree on the ligature...very odd. Makes me stare, but not in good way, I think. I'm ok with one or two..possibly a combo of the two. 3 and 4 are very awkward to read with all the sharp angles and weird serifs going on.
Yeah, #2 for sure. Very elegant, just like your design comp.
2 my fav as well
2!
i vote for 2!
I'm digging 1 or 2, but the ligature feels more natural on 1. 3 and 4 feel a little too rigid on the larger sizes of 3 and 4.
second one plz!
Much preferring #1 and #2, due to the less stiff feel it has. I'm guessing in total I'd go for #2, because #1 has a kind of a corporate feel to it IMO. #2 does have a some Apple pre-Myriad era to it.
I really like #2 the best - i feel it has the cleanest readability and would work best if used on multiple pieces of collateral
Definitely #2. I'm not crazy about italic logos.
Although I'm a bit confused by the ligature. Just to add decoration? Or does it stand for something?
2
#2
Between 1 & 2... leaning more towards #2
Between 1 & 2 ... more 2 than 1 though, only just.
I was struggling between 1 and 2, but the white-on-black 2 is gorgeous.
#2 Hands down. Just say no to italics.
1 is the strongest, with the ligature.
1 or 2, 1 or 2, 1 or 2, hmmmmmm 2 for the clarity of the white on black
2
Number 1 is my favorite
weight variation maybe ?
I'd hardly call this a logo, that's more of a Word-Mark but i am probably nitpicking.
I'd absolutely take Nr. 2. Something "Authentic" can not be italic in my understanding. It must be solid with both feet on the ground.
Definately no. 2!
#2
I like the italics in #1, but the standard looks more readable and less forced.
2
#1 all the way
It has a dynamism that I feel the others don't match.
No.2 - But I also love the subtle curves on the ascenders in no.1
#2 is the easiest for me to read. #1 a bit more dynamic. #3 & #4 too sharp for my tastes.
I would say the ornament from #1 with the type from #3, I'm in love with the lowercase 's' on the end of #3, it looks so smooth and fits the style so well in my opinion.
correction: type from #4 - sorry!
Definitely 1 or 2 over 3 or 4.
Overall I think 2 is best.
#2 wins!
Feels like a bit of a "swoosh" in there. I'd like to see it without a ligature.
#2 looks very nice reversed, and would go along beautifully with Georgia (if you happened to use that for any of your HTML text).
I'll go for #2 as well.
IMHO The faux ic ligature isn't working. I think part of the problem is that it separates the tittle from what is already a ti ligature making it, more or less, look like an odd curlyque coming off of the back of the c.
I do prefer the roman (meta serif) to the italic (epic).
Another Vote for numero dos.
Number2 over 1!
I have to agree with Zeldman...
#2
man, i would not have open comments regarding logo options. But I admire your openness.
I like option 2 — and the ligatures don't look gratuitous, they look just peculiar enough.
good luck
i think they all feel UN-authentic, more generic. Like they are just made from a normal typeface anyone could do. Step out there, be bold.
Your a brave one to open this stuff up to the public.
#2, though these do seem a bit plain.
1 or 2 have my vote, as I'm not a fan of the serifs in 3 and 4. They make the lettering look really busy at the small size.
I hate them all.
I was hoping for honesty in this discussion, foobar.
(wink)
I don't really care for any of them, especially in comparison with the logo you already have. However if I had to chose one of them I'd have to go with #1
I'm actually going to agree with Shane on this. I really like the look of the existing type better than these mockups. They look more "authentic".
I'd go with #1.
Can you somehow change the auto-subscribe so I'm not emailed each time someone makes a comment here?
I wish I could, I'm suffering from the same. Skitch's fault...
Skitch is solving the problem, read this: https://twitter.com/maxvoltar/status/1311420511
N0.2 for me
these guys might think you are copying their logo just a bit too much if you take that ligature idea + type face http://www.checklandkindleysides.com/
