To get the old view:
1. Go to settings (upper right hand corner)
2. Select Editing
3. Uncheck: Create new text documents using the latest version of the document editor
The reload gogledocs. You can now select the text out of your crappy new-style fixed-width document and paste it into a nice new full-width doc.
