I like the visual treatment better, but prefer bread2, i.e. right-hand placement of the breadcrumbs.
Thinking a hybrid btw this one and bread2 might work:
--Browsing breadcrumbs to the left.
--Filters to the right, lit up by which one is in use.
--Clicking a filter resets the whole list, dumping you out of breadcrumbs.
--Breadcrumb area is blank by default.
Could still use links for filters w/something subtle like bold or light background for selected one.
